General
Before carrying out a repair, we may inspect and diagnose the device to identify the reported fault and any additional faults that may affect the repair.
A diagnostic or inspection fee may apply where stated before the work begins.
A diagnosis does not necessarily guarantee that a device can be repaired.
Some faults may only become apparent after the device is opened, tested, repaired or operated for a period of time.
Where additional work is required beyond the original agreed repair, we will generally seek your approval before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
Repair Parts – Original, OEM & Third-Party Parts
We aim to use genuine/original manufacturer parts where reasonably available and commercially practical.
However, genuine manufacturer parts may not always be available, may be discontinued, or may be significantly more expensive.
Where a genuine/original part is unavailable, we may source a suitable third-party, aftermarket or compatible replacement part from a supplier.
Where the choice of part is material to the repair, we will inform you of the available options and, where appropriate, obtain your approval before installation.
Parts may include:
Genuine/Original Parts
Parts supplied by or sourced through the device manufacturer or an authorised supply channel, where available.
OEM Parts
Parts manufactured by an original equipment manufacturer or supplied as an equivalent component, where applicable.
Aftermarket/Third-Party Parts
Compatible replacement components manufactured or supplied by an independent third party.
We will not represent a third-party or aftermarket component as a genuine manufacturer part.
The performance, appearance, functionality and longevity of aftermarket components can differ from genuine manufacturer components.
Customer Approval for Repairs
Where a repair requires additional work or parts beyond the original agreed service, we may provide an updated quote or estimate.
Additional work will generally not be undertaken without your approval, except where:
- you have previously authorised us to proceed within an agreed spending limit; or
- immediate action is reasonably necessary to complete the agreed service and the additional work is minor and within the scope you authorised.
You are responsible for charges for work and parts that you have approved.
Water-Damaged, Physically Damaged & Previously Repaired Devices
Devices affected by:
- water or liquid damage;
- corrosion;
- impact damage;
- cracked or broken components;
- bent frames;
- fire or heat damage;
- unauthorised previous repairs;
- poor-quality previous repairs;
- missing components; or
- other pre-existing damage
may have additional faults that cannot reasonably be identified before disassembly or testing.
In these circumstances, repair outcomes may be uncertain.
We will take reasonable care when working on the device, but we cannot guarantee successful repair where the underlying condition of the device prevents a reliable repair outcome.
Data, Files & Backups
You are responsible for backing up your data before giving us your device.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- photos;
- videos;
- contacts;
- messages;
- documents;
- applications;
- passwords;
- accounts; and
- other personal or business information.
We will take reasonable care while performing repairs, but we cannot guarantee that data will remain intact during repair, diagnostics, software work, device restoration or other technical procedures.
You should maintain your own backup before handing over a device.
Where a repair requires resetting, restoring, updating or reinstalling software, we may require your approval before doing so.
Passwords, PINs & Access
We may require a device passcode, password or other access information to properly test certain functions.
You should only provide access information where necessary for the requested service.
We will use access information only for purposes reasonably connected with providing the service.
We will not intentionally access personal information that is unrelated to the repair.
You may be asked to remove sensitive accounts, enable appropriate repair mode, or otherwise provide access necessary to test the device.
Device Condition & Pre-Existing Faults
A device may have faults unrelated to the repair requested.
For example, a device submitted for screen replacement may also have an existing issue with its:
- motherboard;
- battery;
- charging system;
- cameras;
- speakers;
- microphones;
- buttons;
- biometric functions;
- network connection;
- software; or
- other components.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults that are unrelated to our workmanship.
However, where our service causes damage or fails to meet the guarantees applicable under New Zealand law, your legal rights remain unaffected.
Repair Testing
After completing a repair, we may test relevant functions of the device.
Testing may include:
- display;
- touch;
- charging;
- battery;
- cameras;
- microphone;
- speakers;
- buttons;
- Wi-Fi;
- Bluetooth;
- mobile connectivity; and
- other relevant functions.
Not every function can necessarily be tested in every situation.
Repair Warranty / Workmanship
Where GGenZ Tech provides a specific warranty or warranty period for a particular repair, that warranty will be communicated to you at the time of service.
Any additional warranty offered by GGenZ Tech is separate from and does not remove or limit rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable New Zealand law.
If a problem occurs after a repair, please contact us as soon as reasonably practicable so we can inspect the device and determine the cause.
Consumer Guarantees Act
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or contract out of any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand law.
Where the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies, our services will be provided with reasonable care and skill and will otherwise comply with applicable statutory guarantees.
If our service fails to meet an applicable guarantee, you may have rights to a remedy depending on the circumstances.
For consumer transactions, we will not rely on these Terms and Conditions to remove rights that you are legally entitled to.
Quotes & Estimates
Where possible, we will provide a quote or estimate before commencing work.
A quote may be based on the information available before the device is inspected or disassembled.
If additional faults are discovered, the original quote may need to be revised.
We will generally seek your approval before undertaking additional chargeable work.
NZ consumer guidance also recommends agreeing to additional repair work and its cost before that work is undertaken.
Payment
Payment is due according to the payment terms provided with your quote, invoice or order.
Accepted payment methods may include:
- bank transfer;
- cash;
- EFTPOS/card;
- online payment; or
- another payment method agreed with us.
Where a deposit is required, the deposit amount and payment terms will be communicated before work begins.
Uncollected Devices
Once repair work is completed, we will contact you using the contact details provided.
You should collect your device within the timeframe communicated by us.
If a device remains uncollected for an extended period, we may contact you to arrange collection.
We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking any further action regarding an uncollected device.
Any storage, disposal or other action relating to an uncollected device will be handled in accordance with applicable New Zealand law.
Third-Party Suppliers
We may purchase replacement parts, components, software, hosting, domains or other services from third-party suppliers.
Third-party parts may have their own manufacturer or supplier warranty.
Where applicable, we may assist you with a supplier warranty claim, but we cannot guarantee the actions, availability, stock or processing times of third-party suppliers.
Force Majeure
We will not be responsible for delays caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including natural disasters, serious technical failures, supplier shortages, power outages, telecommunications failures, illness, or other events beyond our reasonable control.
We will make reasonable efforts to resume services as soon as practicable.
Privacy
We may collect and use personal information necessary to provide our services, communicate with customers, process payments, manage repairs and maintain business records.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and applicable privacy principles.
The Privacy Act regulates how New Zealand businesses collect, store, use and share personal information.
Please see our Privacy Policy for further information about how we handle personal information.
Complaints & Dispute Resolution
If you have a concern about our service, please contact us first so we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.
Please provide:
- your name;
- invoice/order number where applicable;
- details of the issue;
- relevant photographs or evidence; and
- the remedy you are seeking.
We will consider complaints fairly and in accordance with our legal obligations.
If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, either party may have rights to use an appropriate New Zealand dispute-resolution process, including the Disputes Tribunal where applicable.
Business-to-Business Customers
Where you are purchasing services wholly or predominantly for business purposes, different legal rules may apply.
In certain business-to-business transactions, the parties may agree in writing to contract out of specific Consumer Guarantees Act provisions, but only where the legal requirements for doing so are satisfied.
We will not assume that consumer protections have been excluded unless there is a valid written agreement where required.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
The version applicable to a particular service will generally be the version provided or made available to you when you agree to that service, subject to any mandatory legal requirements.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Any dispute will be dealt with under the applicable laws and jurisdiction of New Zealand.
